VDEX is a decentralized perpetual exchange built on a Virtual Rollups (zero knowledge state channels) with instant finality and ZeroGas fees. The Protocol is looking for a senior backend engineer to build and scale core backend systems.
Responsibilities
Design and build scalable backend services in Go and TypeScript.
Implement lowâlatency, eventâdriven systems for realâtime trading workflows.
Own core financial protocol logic: margining, liquidation, funding, pricing, and risk controls.
Integrate offâchain backend systems with onâchain components where needed.
Improve reliability, observability, and operational tooling for production services.
Lead system design discussions and mentor engineers.
Requirements
5+ years building scalable distributed systems.
Strong Go skills; experience with TypeScript a plus.
Solid understanding of distributed systems, data consistency, and microservices.
Experience with SQL (Postgres), REST APIs, and eventâdriven architectures.
Familiarity with Kafka (or similar), Redis, and cache design patterns.
Knowledge of cryptographic principles and key management.
Comfortable with Docker, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have
DeFi and blockchain fundamentals (EVM, tokens, yields).
Experience with smart contracts (Solidity).
Familiarity with ethers.js or goâethereum.
Familiarity with Google Cloud infrastructure.
Understanding of trading concepts like order books, perpetuals, and risk.
